19 Months

This kid is 19 months! I decided to give up on using the stickers for months 19-24. The last couple months were a struggle trying to get the stickers on his shirt. Here are a few pics I took on Mother's Day (1 day after he turned 19 months).

Lucas got his first haircut just days after the 18 month pics were taken last month. He was definitely looking like a hippie kid before I finally braved getting his haircut. I should have probably written a separate post on that ordeal. Let's just say that it was pretty traumatizing. It will be Daddy's turn to take him next time. You hear that, Josh? :-)

Monaco & France

As I mentioned in this post, Josh and I traveled to Monaco and France last month. We had a good time but the trip did have a few set backs... First, our flight was delayed out of Reagan which made us miss our direct flight to Nice, France. We were re-routed to Atlanta and just barely made a flight to Amsterdam. From Amsterdam, we then flew to Nice. Once we arrived in Nice, we realized we had no luggage (we got in the next day about 6-7 hours later than we would have if we had made our original flight). We arrived at our hotel in Monte Carlo (which is about 30 minutes from Nice) around 4 or 5pm and had a Welcome Reception we were supposed to attend at 7pm. We had no clothes to wear (except I had packed an extra sundress in my carry on). Josh had to find a store to get something to wear. Thank goodness we were able to find a store that was reasonably priced considering almost every store in Monte Carlo is extremely high end (think Gucci, Prada, etc). Once our luggage arrived (nearly 24 hours later) we were able to start enjoying the trip. We definitely enjoyed hanging out with some fun people from Xerox and their spouses. Our favorite part of Monaco was the food (since it borders France and Italy they have a combination of fantastic cuisine). Overall, Monaco isn't a place we would return to though. It is very stuffy and expensive. Our last day/night of the trip we moved to a hotel in Nice, France. This was by far our very favorite part of the trip. We wish we would have extended a few more nights in Nice. However, at the time we booked we were nervous to be away from Lucas for that long. Nice was so beautiful and such an amazing place to people watch. The food was also fantastic. I would definitely recommend Nice to anyone! So beautiful! Anyways, that was a quick recap of our trip.

Our 2nd night (once the luggage arrived)

Lucas-18 Months

Lucas is officially 1.5.... Which means in 6 months I will have a 2 year old! Seriously, where is the time going?

The monthly photos are getting more and more difficult since Lucas refuses to wear the sticker on his chest while I take his photo. He is much more interested in crumpling the sticker up and getting back to playing with his cars.

He refused to give me a smile....

And wanted his chair moved back in front of the TV where he could hold the Apple TV remote...

@ 18 Months:

-Weighs a little over 22 pounds
-Is obsessed with playing outside and throws tantrums when he has to come in the house
-Has lots of tantrums in general when he doesn't get what he wants
-Has morphed from being perfect in restaurants to not wanting to sit still
-Loves to do everything himself and is very confident of his abilities but has no sense (The other day I was letting him go down the stairs on his belly feet first like we always do when he tried to stand up and walk down on his own. I couldn't catch him in time and this resulted in 2 large bumps and bleeding and a trip to the pediatrician. Thank goodness he is okay.)
-Thinks Cody is the coolest thing in his world

And that is all I can think of for now. :-)

Lucas-17 Months

This picture is from yesterday before Lucas hurt himself and got a boo boo. He turned 17 months yesterday but before I could get his picture with the number 17, he hurt himself. We had him dressed up to go to the mall to see the Easter Bunny. When we arrived at the mall they told us that the Easter Bunny wasn't arriving until next weekend.

This is what the sticker looked like after Lucas crumbled it up and refused to let me put it on his shirt. He had to do it himself.

Here are some not-so-great shots of Lucas. He was trying to be very independent. Oh, and his boo boo was in full sight. Yesterday he jumped off the jungle gym in the playroom into his toy firetruck. It left quite the mark...

@ 17 Months:

-Lucas is running all over the place
-Weighs about 21 pounds
-Is developing quite the personality
-Has tantrums over everything (getting in the car seat, if he wants our iphones, computers, remotes, etc...)
-His favorite word is "CoCo" for Cody (the nickname we call Cody)
-Is extremely clumsy and bumps his head a lot (I think he got his clumsiness from me)
-Is obsessed with DaDa and CoCo (they went for a walk the other day without him and he was so upset)
-Loves watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
-Favorite foods are pizza and grilled cheese (and of course still yogurt)
-Has such a sweet tooth
-Is into absolutely everything - You can't childproof this house enough. He climbs on tables, chairs, loves the stairs. etc....
-Looks us straight in the face and laughs and smiles when he is doing something he is not supposed to

We have our hands full! I can't believe how fast time is going and that he will be 18 months next month. WOW!

St. Patrick's Day Parade 2013

Last weekend we went to the St. Patrick's Parade in Old Town, Alexandria. It was pretty early this year being on March 2nd. It was beyond freezing outside so we took turns taking Lucas in stores and into Pat Troy's. Here are a few pics from the day!

Another Surgery for Lucas

Our poor little bugger had to go through another surgery last week. Back in fall I discovered a weird bump on his back (right above his bottom). The pediatrician referred us to a pediatric dermatologist and she did not think it was a big deal but referred us to a surgeon for a 2nd opinion. The surgeon was based out of Children's Hospital and also felt that it wasn't anything to worry about but told us she would look at it a few months later. When we saw her back in January she said it was up to us if we wanted to have it removed for peace of mind. Josh and I felt that we needed to have it taken off just in case. I just didn't want to look at it and worry anymore (I know that I am overly paranoid but I can't help it). The surgery was at Children's Hospital's Fairfax location. It was a quick 45 minute procedure. They gave him anesthesia and an IV. The doctor removed it and again did not think it looked like anything to be concerned about but did send it in to be tested. We have not received those test results back yet. Prayers are appreciated but we are optimistic that he is just fine. Lucas did great and was barely affected by the surgery at all. As soon as we got home he was back into everything!

Here are a few pics of Lucas tearing up the room we were in before he went back.

These bins were full of socks and Lucas thought it was funny to dump them all out:

Lately

My contract recently ended at Grant Thornton (with all the crazy government sequestration and budget cuts going on). I am home again with Lucas for the mean time. Thank goodness daycare has agreed to put us at the top of the list so when I do find another position, they should have a spot for him. Anyways, I have been trying to find things to do with Lucas to get out of the house. One day last week it was warm enough to go to the park. I am so looking forward to Spring and being able to go to the park (I say this as it snows outside in March). I can't wait for the farmers markets to open again. Come on Spring and Summer!

Lucas decided just days after he turned 16 months that he wanted to walk all of the time. He has been semi-walking for months but he was just really lacking confidence. Now he is running all over the place.

Here are a few pics from the park:
