Austin Michael Koontz

Our friends Annie & Mike had a baby last week. Annie & I have been friends since we were 3 and 4 years old and have remained friends since. It is so exciting that we have baby boys that are just 6.5 months apart. They are going to be such good friends! On Saturday, my mom and I went out to meet baby Austin while Josh stayed at home with Lucas. Austin is so precious and such a sweet and sleepy little newborn. I can't wait to go out and visit longer and snuggle up with him. Love you guys! PS - The exhaustion and no sleep will soon pass!

Red Rocks

On Thursday we headed in Old Town to Red Rocks. This happens to be one of my favorite pizza places and my friend Liz was hosting a charity event there for Food & Friends. Our friends Melissa and Josh joined Josh, Lucas and me. Lucas had a great time. He sat in a big restaurant high chair for the first time and seemed to really enjoy it. He sat in there for a good 45 minutes before he started to fuss. It was nice to have our arms free and enjoy our wine and appetizer with free arms. Of course, as soon as our pizzas arrived, he wanted to be held again. :-) Here are a few (iphone) pics and a video of Lucas enjoying himself. The good thing about this restaurant is that is nosy so Lucas wasn't bothering anyone with his loud baby babble.

Lucas - 6 Months Old

WOW! Time is flying! I can't believe Lucas is 6 months old! The last couple weeks have been a bit hard for Lucas. He is teething and has been in a lot of pain. He is mostly sleeping through the night but has been waking up once a night crying because of pain. My poor little guy! I hope he isn't in this much pain for every single tooth that comes through. We went to the doctor for his 6 month appointment and he is still a little guy weighing in at 14.5lbs and only in the 4th percentile for his weight. The doctors are not concerned because he has a very healthy appetite. I am hoping to fatten him up soon with solid foods. :-) The doc said he is a very healthy boy which we are very thankful for. Lucas @ 6 Months -Has a sliver of a tooth that hasn't fully emerged -Drools a lot (we go through a ton of teething bibs a day) -Puts everything in his mouth -Is almost sitting up on his own -Laughs and giggles a lot -Grabs things out of my hands if he wants it -Loves being read to -Enjoys walks in the stroller -Has many ticklish spots including under his neck and under his arms Happy half Birthday to our little man!

Easter 2012

Easter weekend was extra busy for us! Saturday we did a few things around the house and then headed to out to see some of Josh's family at The Cantley's (Brad, Michelle, Morgan, Megan & Blaise) new house in Charles Town, West Virginia. It was our 2nd time going to see their new house. Many of his family members came from Charleston and Ohio to celebrate Easter. Below is a picture of Lucas in their backyard.

Sunday, we woke up early and went to church. But before heading to church, we looked to see what the Easter Bunny left.

After church we set up the tripod in our yard and attached the camera to take a family pic. (yes, we are dorks).

Then our dear friends Mike & Annie stopped by for a visit. Annie is due in 2 weeks and we are so excited for the arrival of little Austin.

After Annie & Mike's visit, we headed to my mom's for her annual Easter dinner and egg hunt.

We had a great Easter and are very thankful for wonderful family and friends.

Easter Bunny

We took Lucas to see the Easter Bunny today. We were hoping since he is still young that it wouldn't be too scary for him (I hear that comes around 1 or 2). He had no clue that a big white fluffy bunny was holding him and just smiled away. It was a definite success! We were very lucky to get smiles from him since he is teething and has been miserable for a week. He also has a little cold and is just not feeling too hot. We just wanted a quick photo for the baby book of his first photo with the Easter Bunny.

Baby Food Purees

Lucas started solids at a little after 5 months old. I decided to go ahead and make the commitment to make his baby food. I was originally going to purchase a Beaba Baby Food Maker but after talking my friend Besse, I decided to just just purchase a large food processor. I am really glad I did! I have been making large batches of food and freezing everything. I have been following this blog for advice. It is a great source of information. I also own Cooking for Baby by Lisa Barnes which is filled with recipes split up by age and has lots of colorful photos. I was using these ice cube trays but decided to go with the Baeba trays instead. So far, Lucas has tried Bananas, Sweet Potatoes, Apples, and Pears. I am going to attempt to give him avocado for the first time tomorrow.
