Easter Bunny
We took Lucas to see the Easter Bunny today. We were hoping since he is still young that it wouldn't be too scary for him (I hear that comes around 1 or 2). He had no clue that a big white fluffy bunny was holding him and just smiled away. It was a definite success! We were very lucky to get smiles from him since he is teething and has been miserable for a week. He also has a little cold and is just not feeling too hot. We just wanted a quick photo for the baby book of his first photo with the Easter Bunny.

Baby Food Purees
Lucas started solids at a little after 5 months old. I decided to go ahead and make the commitment to make his baby food. I was originally going to purchase a Beaba Baby Food Maker but after talking my friend Besse, I decided to just just purchase a large food processor. I am really glad I did! I have been making large batches of food and freezing everything. I have been following this blog for advice. It is a great source of information. I also own Cooking for Baby by Lisa Barnes which is filled with recipes split up by age and has lots of colorful photos. I was using these ice cube trays but decided to go with the Baeba trays instead. So far, Lucas has tried Bananas, Sweet Potatoes, Apples, and Pears. I am going to attempt to give him avocado for the first time tomorrow.

Beautiful Weather = Playing Outside
Tuesday we headed to Arlington to spend the day with Kim. We ran a bunch of errands, went to the mall, ate lunch, had a glass of wine outside, had a cupcake and coffee outside and walked around a bit more. It was a fun day!

Yesterday we went over to The Schmidt's to visit with Wendi and Ethan. Lucas got to swing in a big boy swing for the first time. He fell asleep in the swing after about 5 minutes because his is used to falling asleep in his My Little Lamb swing. We had a great time at the play date and enjoyed hanging out with Wendi's friend and her son also.

PS - Photos were all taken with my new iphone. Not bad quality for phone photos! :-)

Introducing Solids
Yesterday Josh put together Lucas' high chair (thanks for the high chair Mama & Papa). Today we put Lucas in and gave him apples for the first time. He has already been getting some rice cereal in his bottles (1 tablespoon per bottle) because the doctor suggested it might help with his acid reflux and spit up. The first few bites he spit out but once he got the hang of it he seemed to kind of like it. Next week, we will introduce bananas. I am still trying to decide if I want to invest in a baby food maker and puree my own baby food or whether I will be lazy and just buy store brand organic baby food. We will see! :-)

Lucas - 5 Months Old

Happy 5 months to our sweet boy! Lucas is getting so active and is almost sitting up on his own. One accomplishment that I am extremely happy about is that Lucas is finally sleeping in his crib! Let's just say we had a little trouble getting him to sleep in there up until now. He slept best in his bouncer (insert the "what a bad parent" eye roll in here now) so prior to this week he was sleeping next to our bed in either the bouncer or the swing. When we went away last weekend, we brought the pack and play thinking that he wouldn't use it but we figured we would try. We put it next to our bed in the hotel so he could still see us and he slept all night in there. When we got back on Sunday, I put him in the crib (when he was sleepy but not asleep yet) and he slept until 6:30am! A couple of nights this week he did wake up at 4:00 am and I brought him in the bedroom with us since I was exhausted. However, the last few nights he has been sleeping in there from 10 to 6:30 or 7! Wohoo!
In other updates, Lucas is a very social baby and loves to smile and make eye contact with people. He is a very happy baby (as long as he isn't in the car seat) and doesn't give us much trouble. He has been starting the teething process for the last few weeks and does become cranky when his teeth start bothering him. We are seeing him bite down on his fingers and trying to bite down on ours as well. Nothing has poked through the gums yet but we can fell a slight bump on gums. Lucas still LOVES his swing and still takes his naps in there.
PS - Lucas had solids for the first time. Stay tuned for a post on that!

Lucas - 4 Months Old

Lucas is 4 months old! He is finally starting to grow! We are heading to the doctors office today to find out how big he is. The last month has been a bit stressful as Lucas had a virus which caused low-grade fevers for several weeks but he seems to be on the mend. However, we think he is starting to teeth a little early. He has been drooling a ton and biting down on his finger like crazy. He also loves to bite down on our fingers as well. It feels like something might be under the gum so maybe he will get a tooth a little earlier than normal. Lucas is laughing and making lots of sounds with his baby babble. It is so much fun to watch him develop each month!
