Lucas - 2 Months Old

Lucas turned 2 months old on 12/10. He is becoming increasingly more alert with each day. He is starting to smile a lot, make lots of noises through cooing. Each morning when he wakes up, he stretches really big, makes the funniest scrunched up faces and expels a bunch of gas. He will kill me for writing this someday but it is hilarious and makes me laugh everyday. Lucas loves to lay on his play mat and swat at the toys. However, he still hates tummy time. In terms of sleeping, he still wakes up every 2-3 hours. Occasionally we get a 4 hour stretch but when this happens he usually wakes up every 2 hours after the 4 hour stretch. Oh sleep, how I miss you. I hope Lucas will soon learn how much his mommy and daddy love to sleep and takes on our sleeping pre-baby sleeping habits. Each day is new and exciting and we love watching him grow.

Bundled Up

We bundled up Lucas a little too much for our walk today! It reminded us from the scene in A Christmas Story. Poor thing couldn't move his arms!

Smiles

Smiles - Lucas is finally starting to smile a lot! It melts our hearts when we get big smiles from this boy!

December is here!

Christmas is my favorite holiday and I just love decorating! With a newborn, we have decided to put off decorating the outside of the house this year(besides a flag). I have done some decorating inside and here are a few pics of the decorations. Happy Holiday Season!

Thanksgiving 2011 - A Year of True Blessings

We have a lot to be thankful for this year. Having a healthy baby boy this year was the answer to our prayers. I try to remind myself of how blessed we are when I get upset with my weight or start complaining over a lack of sleep. I keep trying trying to remind myself to not sweat the small stuff! It is definitely a lesson both Josh and myself need to constantly remind ourselves of as we both have a tendency to get stressed easily.

Lucas - 1 Month Old

1 Month, 1 week:


We are almost at the 6 week mark. I go to the doctor next week for the standard post-birth 6 week check up. I feel like I am finally starting to get the hang of the parenthood thing. Well, maybe not getting the hang of it, but each day feels a little more comfortable than the last. Lucas spent the first 3-4 weeks sleeping all day and staying UP ALL NIGHT. He is finally staying awake during the day and getting up about 3 times during the night. This makes me very happy! Those first few weeks were so exhausting that words really can't describe it. I was a zombie. I seriously don't know how I was functioning. Nobody really prepares you on quite how hard those first few weeks are. Oh well, we are surviving. We were blessed with a beautiful baby boy and that is all the matters.

Annie's 30th

Annie & I have been friends since we met when she was 4 and I was 3. Crazy to think we have been friends for so long! She started school a year early and I was held back a year so we were always 2 grades apart. Despite an age difference in school and going to different colleges, we have always remained the best of friends!

Annie turned 30th on the 5th and her hubby, Mike, threw her a party to celebrate at their house. We took Lucas on his first outing to the party. I didn't get any photos of the little guy but here are a few of us from the party.

Cody's Buddy

Cody has done really well with welcoming Lucas to our family. He is completely fascinated by him and always want to give him kisses. On Saturday, Cody put his tennis ball on top of Lucas' bouncer seat to share with him. It was very sweet.

First Bath

We gave Lucas his first bath this week. Well I guess it was technically his second bath since the hospital gave him one. He wasn't a big fan but he didn't scream as much as I thought he would. Anyways, here is a pic of the little man after his bath....

Lucas Chandler Justice

We welcomed our sweet baby boy into to the world on Monday, October 10th at 12:19 pm. He was much smaller than the doctors told us. They expected him to be at least 8 lbs and he was 6 lbs 4 ounces. He lost a lot of weight and is now 5 lbs 13 ounces. He is such a little peanut. We are madly in love with him.

Tomorrow

Life as we know it will officially change forever tomorrow. I can't believe that this swing will have a real baby in it this time next weekend. We have a scheduled c-section tomorrow at noon. I am so anxious I barely slept at all last night and probably won't sleep a wink tonight. Although, I hope to get some sleep since I know it will be a long time before I will get to sleep again. Even though our house is filled with baby stuff and the nursery has been completed for a long time, I still don't think it will all sink in until he is born and we meet him in person.

31 Weeks

Wow, I am finally getting closer to the finish line. I love feeling baby kicks and movements. Every time he moves around he lets me know that he is doing well in there.

The heat this summer has been awful and I am really looking forward to some cooler fall weather. Of course, the main reason I am looking forward to fall is so we can meet our little one. :-)
