Warning: This will be a mega-long post!
We arrived in Rome on June 20th at 8:30 in the morning. We stayed in Rome for 2 nights.
Our 1st Night - Trevi Fountain - Rome
2nd Day in Rome
The Coliseum:
St. Peter's
Sistine Chapel:
Two days later we got on a train in Rome and headed to Siena (in Tuscany). I love this precious mid-evil town. It was so quiet and such a beautiful place to relax and sip vino!
After one night in Siena, we got on a train and headed to another part of Tuscany (Pisa). We were not fans of this dirty university town. All that is there is the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
We stayed the night in Pisa and then jumped back on the train to head over to the northern coast of Italy. We stayed in the most beautiful harbor town called Santa Magherita. It was so picturesque. We actually stayed 2 nights in Santa Magherita so we had a little more time to explore and even took a 1 hour trip to the Cinque Terre and saw one of the beaches there, Monterosso.
Santa Magherita:
Monterosso (Day Trip):
After 2 nights in Monterosso - we headed back to the Tuscan region of Italy and went to Florence.
Florence:
With 1 night in Florence, we headed the next morning bright and early to Venice. We were so excited to get to Venice because our friends Nate, Besse, and Besse's parents (Jay and Jill) were in Venice at the exact same time! :-)

The Rialto Bridge:
Gondala Ride:
And again... We are off! We stayed 1 night in Venice and flew to the south of Italy. Here comes the relaxing part of this trip! We stayed 4 nights in Sorrento (on the southern coast).
Sorrento:
Day Trip to Capri:
We took a boat from Sorrento to Capri (well a big Ferry). Once we arrived in Capri (30 minutes later) we got on another boat to go see the Blue Grotto. This is a beautiful cave with amazing blue water that the Romans used to swim in. The sun shinning on water and reflecting up on the cave is what gives it the beautiful color.
Once we got out to the cave, we had got in yet another boat (#3) which was a tiny canoe. We had a guide who took us in and we all had to duck so we wouldn't hit our head on the cave - it was such a cool experience!
On the ferry:
Arrival in Capri:
Tiny Boats:
Blue Grotto:
Us in the Canoe:
Beautiful!
In Capri (after a ridiculous and painful hike up a mountain in flip flops)
Next Day - Day Trip to Pompei:
Pizza Oven from Ancient Roman Times:
I look like crap (but Josh will complain if there isn't a pic from Pomepi). He loved this place... I am not so into history....
After 4 nights in Sorrento - we head backed to Rome for one last night before we went home.
THE BEST PART OF THE TRIP IS BELOW:
FOOD (Pizza, Pasta), WINE, GELATO!
What a wonderful trip with a wonderful husband! :-)
