Lucas - 2 Years Old!!!!!

Seriously, I know I have started out a lot of a posts asking the same question but really, where has the time gone?

I got busy and missed the 23 months post so I am making sure not too late on this one. I really need to start scheduling some time on my calendar to make sure I keep up with this blog. I am going to write a separate post on the birthday festivities and keep this one to what he has been up to these days.

I plan to have some nice photos taken of him but we ran out of time:

(please excuse the cell phone photo)

Lucas @ 2:
-Has recently started adding more two word phrases to his vocabulary saying things like "NO CO!" for "No Cody" and "My MA Mouse" for "My Mickey Mouse"
-Uses the word "MINE" a lot when we have something he wants
-Is still obsessed with Mickey, Cho Chos, trucks, buses and anything with wheels
-Smiles the second he sees one of us walk in the room to pick him up from school
-Favorites foods are currently quesadillas and pizza (anything with carbs and cheese)
-Is still very picky and doesn't have a huge interest in food...but gets very cranky when he is hungry
-Loves to give hugs - he is so sweet and loving when he wants to be
-Has a lot of tantrums over milk and how he wants more of it
-Loves his dog so much and gives him a hug every night before he goes to bed and says "Bye CO!"
-Still loves to be outside and run freely
-Enjoys dancing to Mickey Mouse clubhouse music
-Weighs 26.5 pounds (we just went the doc today)
-Is a bit on the short side (like his momma)being only in the 3rd percentile but the doctor says it is possible he could have a growth spurt
-Is a healthy and happy (and strong willed little boy)

We are blessed.

Lucas - 22nd Months

Well, I have missed the last few monthly posts. Life has been crazy busy!

Lucas is growing by the second! He will be be 2 in just 2 short months.

@ 22 Months:
-Has recently started saying phrases like "what is that?" or "where's da (dad)"
-Mickey Mouse has become an obsession - Daddy bought Lucas a Mickey stuffed animal a couple weeks ago and he goes to bed every night with him
-Loves to dance and sing and clap
-Still loves being outside
-Daycare calls him "drama king" because he throws fits every time he has to come inside from the play ground
-Favorite game is pretend he is leaving. He grabs his play keys, gives us kisses and hugs and tells us bye. Then he drives off on his car. It is soooooo sweet!
-Loves construction sites and always points at the big machines when we walk or drive by
-Moves to the 2 year old room at daycare/school in September
-Loves to pretend to cook with the play kitchen at school
-Tells all his classmates good bye each day when it is time to go home
-Is still so snuggly and sweet even with all his wild boy ways

Lucas-18 Months

Lucas is officially 1.5.... Which means in 6 months I will have a 2 year old! Seriously, where is the time going?

The monthly photos are getting more and more difficult since Lucas refuses to wear the sticker on his chest while I take his photo. He is much more interested in crumpling the sticker up and getting back to playing with his cars.

He refused to give me a smile....

And wanted his chair moved back in front of the TV where he could hold the Apple TV remote...

@ 18 Months:

-Weighs a little over 22 pounds
-Is obsessed with playing outside and throws tantrums when he has to come in the house
-Has lots of tantrums in general when he doesn't get what he wants
-Has morphed from being perfect in restaurants to not wanting to sit still
-Loves to do everything himself and is very confident of his abilities but has no sense (The other day I was letting him go down the stairs on his belly feet first like we always do when he tried to stand up and walk down on his own. I couldn't catch him in time and this resulted in 2 large bumps and bleeding and a trip to the pediatrician. Thank goodness he is okay.)
-Thinks Cody is the coolest thing in his world

And that is all I can think of for now. :-)

Lucas-17 Months

This picture is from yesterday before Lucas hurt himself and got a boo boo. He turned 17 months yesterday but before I could get his picture with the number 17, he hurt himself. We had him dressed up to go to the mall to see the Easter Bunny. When we arrived at the mall they told us that the Easter Bunny wasn't arriving until next weekend.

This is what the sticker looked like after Lucas crumbled it up and refused to let me put it on his shirt. He had to do it himself.

Here are some not-so-great shots of Lucas. He was trying to be very independent. Oh, and his boo boo was in full sight. Yesterday he jumped off the jungle gym in the playroom into his toy firetruck. It left quite the mark...

@ 17 Months:

-Lucas is running all over the place
-Weighs about 21 pounds
-Is developing quite the personality
-Has tantrums over everything (getting in the car seat, if he wants our iphones, computers, remotes, etc...)
-His favorite word is "CoCo" for Cody (the nickname we call Cody)
-Is extremely clumsy and bumps his head a lot (I think he got his clumsiness from me)
-Is obsessed with DaDa and CoCo (they went for a walk the other day without him and he was so upset)
-Loves watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
-Favorite foods are pizza and grilled cheese (and of course still yogurt)
-Has such a sweet tooth
-Is into absolutely everything - You can't childproof this house enough. He climbs on tables, chairs, loves the stairs. etc....
-Looks us straight in the face and laughs and smiles when he is doing something he is not supposed to

We have our hands full! I can't believe how fast time is going and that he will be 18 months next month. WOW!

Ear Tubes

Lucas got ear tubes put in his ears on December 14th. This surgery was super simple. We arrived at 6:00 for his 7:00 am surgery. He did not have to have an IV put in but did have to have general anesthesia. The surgery took 10-15 minutes and he was out. He was such a brave boy!

We have seen a dramatic difference in Lucas in just a matter of weeks from having these tubes. They are seriously a life saver and I wish he had been able to have them sooner.

Lucas-13 Months

Ok, so my mom casually suggested that I continue these monthly photos to 24 months... At first, I said no. Then mommy-guilt kicked in and I figured that it would be a good way to ensure I keep documenting each month. The first 12 were tough and I kept and up with them by keeping a reminder on my calendar each month. I have a feeling the next set are going to be even more tough so I will do my best to keep up with them.

Lucas was not happy when we took his 13 month photos because he was fighting an ear infection at the time. I am over a month behind on this post because we have been dealing with constant illnesses for months (more on that in a separate post).

Not Happy!

Bye Bye Bottles!

Goodbye formula and bottles! Lucas is now on whole milk and no more formula!

I packed up his bottles this weekend and put them away:

This will save me time and annoyance in the evenings. We were required to fill bottles with water for the formula for daycare and label them with the date as well. Now all I have to do is send a carton of milk with him every week and his sippy cup stays there. So much easier!

I thought the transition from bottle to sippy cup was going to be a tough one. However, Lucas really surprised us and did not mind giving up his bottle one bit.

Lucas' 1st Birthday Party

We had a great turn out for Lucas' 1st birthday party! Thanks to all our family, friends and loved ones who came out to help celebrate. And a special thanks to those who helped us get the party together. We couldn't have done it without you!

Lucas actually wasn't feeling too well on the day of his party. After battling an ear infection for weeks, he was both teething and dealing with ear pain. Both Josh and I were up most of the night before the party with a very cranky 1 year old. Lucas did enjoy eating cake and opening gifts though.

This little boy is very blessed with love. He also got spoiled rotten with lots of toys! Here are a few pics of the party. Thanks again everyone!

Lucas' 1st Birthday

Lucas had a very eventful birthday week. On his actual birthday, Wednesday, October 10th, he spent the day at daycare and was treated to a birthday party there!

Daddy went in for the party at school:

Then Lucas headed home for some presents from Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Dave and Julie.

Stay tuned for a post on the birthday party which was on Saturday, October 13th.
